The seventh edition of the national competition “Art for the Castle”, organised by the Polo museale della Campania and the Castel Sant’Elmo, is promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Art and Architecture and Urban Peripheries of the MiBAC (DGAAP), as part of the PAC [].
The competition invites artists to present site-specific projects that reinterpret their context and reflect on the environment and sustainability, establishing an immediate dialogue that raises individual and collective awareness about the world we live in and engages the complex architectural structure of the castle and its variegated public.
The winning artwork will be acquired by the Polo museale della Campania and become part of the  permanent collection of the Castel Sant’Elmo.

The theme selected for this year’s edition is “EVERYDAY NATURE. Environment and Social Interaction”. The Castel Sant'Elmo has strong ties with the natural and urban landscape and represents a privileged site for reflecting on these themes.
The winner, selected by a jury of experts, will receive a prize of 10 thousand Euro, covering all costs relative to the creation of the work. The winning project will be presented during a final exhibition. The catalogue of the 7th edition will document the winning project, together with the biographies and projects presented by all of the finalists.

Participation is open to all and free of charge. All information relative to registration and the submission of material can be found on the competition website: The submission deadline has been extended to 16 JULY 2018 AT 12:00 NOON (CET).
