On 8 June the ex Cermiant complex in Rome hosted the well-attended Conference “Future Peripheries. Culture Regenerates”. The public was joined by the Prime Minister of Italy Paolo Gentiloni and the Minister of Culture Heritage and Activities and Tourism Dario Francheschini.
The Conference was inaugurated by Federica Galloni, Director General of the DGAAP. Ms Galloni took the public on a voyage through the present and future of Italy’s urban peripheries, where the potential represented by culture intends to demolish the walls erected by abandonment and regenerate social capital to establish a new bond between citizens. Local situations were explored in which innovative approaches associated with policies of development set their stock in culture as a pillar atop which to found the relaunching of the city.   

Administrators and experts discussed the state-of-the-art, the most effective models and the most concrete perspectives for constructing change and rewriting the destiny of peripheral areas.
