PAC - PIANO PER L’ARTE CONTEMPORANEA 2020

The Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity (DGCC) of the Ministry for cultural heritage and activities and for tourism (MiBACT) has issued the Piano per l’Arte Contemporanea (PAC) 2020 public notice allocating € 2 million for proposals for acquiring, producing, and promoting artworks and contemporary creativity, Italian and international, destined to augment Italian public collections.

Instituted by art. 3 of Law no. 29/2001, the contemporary art plan called PAC (piano per l’arte contemporanea) is one of the primary instruments through which MiBACT enriches the public heritage of contemporary art and, starting from this edition, extends to all the settings under the purview of the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity, from art to architecture, from design to fashion.

For the 2020 edition of the PAC, the DGCC has been collaborating with the Directorate-General for Museums, in order to involve all museums, institutions, and public places of culture, including those not specialized in the sector of contemporary art, that all the same wish to extend their collections to the languages of the contemporary.

The objectives of the public competition are to finance new acquisitions, support public commissions of works by established, mid-career, emerging, and artists, including site-specific works, in order to significantly enrich the proposing entities’ collections. The PAC also supports the promotion of contemporary artworks received as donations over the past three years. Proposals, which may be submitted by all Italian public museums and places of culture (state, regional, provincial, civic), must demonstrate a line of programming in the field of the contemporary.

The announcement and its attachments may be downloaded in the “Documentation” section.

Deadline: 18 December 2020
