Six specialists in contemporary architecture, to be tasked with updating and revising Censimento nazionale delle architetture del secondo Novecento (national census of architecture of the second half of the twentieth century), will be selected through the public Notice published by the directorate general of contemporary creativity (DGCC) of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism (MiBACT) and Fondazione Scuola dei beni e delle attività culturali. This is the first stage of the “Ereditare il presente. Architettura italiana dal 1945 > Conoscere | Tutelare | Valorizzare” (“inheriting the present. Italian architecture since 1945 > knowing | protecting | valorizing”) project, with which the two institutions have initiated an articulated programme of research and training in the issues of the protection of contemporary architecture.
The Censimento is a project promoted by the DGCC of MiBACT, with the involvement of the universities and of the Ministry’s peripheral structures. An online platform, it offers a mapping of contemporary architecture throughout national territory, founded upon a unified filing methodology and uniform selection criteria.
The six winners, to be selected by an assessment panel, will be tasked with updating the data of approximately 4,300 data sheets in the Censimento, and with normalizing them on the basis of uniform criteria. The requirements for accessing selection are to have earned a postgraduate diploma or PhD in subjects relating to contemporary architecture (or equivalent degrees) no more than ten years ago. Preference will be shown for the quality and consistency of prior study and research experience with the subject and purposes of the selection, as well as for knowledge of Italian architecture of the second half of the twentieth century. The compensation for each six-month collaboration will be € 10,000.
The notice is published on the institutional sites of Direzione Generale Creatività Contemporanea (DGCC) and of Fondazione Scuola dei beni e delle attività culturali.
