After the success of past editions, the Italian Contemporary Art Day come back also this year. It is promoted by AMACI - Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums - with the support of the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity and Urban Regeneration, in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and with the patronage of important public institutions. For this fifteenth edition, on Saturday, October 12th, the 24 AMACI museums and hundreds of places in Italy and abroad open their doors free of charge, with a multiform program that, year after year, has been able to give the general public an important opportunity to visit museums, galleries, foundations, associations, academies, artist studios, exhibition spaces, art places, both public and private. On October, from 7th to 13th, several Embassies, Consulates and Italian Institutes of Culture abroad also organize events to promote contemporary Italian art and culture.
As usual, every year an Italian artist creates the leading image of the event and Eva Marisaldi (Bologna, 1966) signs the image of this 15th edition. The image created by Eva Marisaldi is the reworking of a frame, taken from the video Legenda of 2002, an animation in which some stones - depicted at the cinema, at the parliament, at home watching television - imitate human behaviors, embodying the incommunicability of our times and forcing us to observe reality from outside, from an unexpected point of view. Eva Marisaldi is also the protagonist of a solo exhibition, spread throughout the country: in fact, each of the 24 AMACI museums hosts one of her works for a single day, as well as Farnesina Palace.
