This project is the result of a collaboration between the DGAAP and AMACIcreated to support Italian artists through commissions for new works and increase the public collections and material presented by its network of museums.
Museo Chiama Artista (Museum Calling Artist) is simple and effective project that favours new forms of artistic experimentation. Each year it permits the production of a new work of art that is circulated among a group of associated museums, laying the foundations for the creation and fruition of a shared collection.
The project is made possible by contributions from the DGAAP as part of the PAC, created precisely as a tool for financing the acquisition of contemporary art.
“Through this project – Federica Galloni, Director General of the DGAAP – the Directorate-General realises two of its strategic objectives: the promotion and valorisation of contemporary Italian art and incentives to the production of new works of art by young talent. When a museum commissions a work from an artist, informed about and familiar with the themes and urgencies of our contemporary era, it establishes a relationship of osmosis: while on the one hand the museum helps the artist to grow and express his/her creativity, on the other hand the artist brings a new vital lymph to the museum.”
